The Challenge

As Stena-Line grew, its fixed voice services were implemented around a variety of platforms and technologies, which led to some fragmentation. After a big investment in their Belfast operation and significant development of the Belfast port services, the business faced a major issue. The Belfast operation was due to move to new, enhanced offices, and the aging switch supporting all telephony to the site was unlikely to be capable of sustaining a major move. This represented a significant risk to the operation.

Therefore Stena Line selected Belfast as the pilot location for the procurement of a new fixed voice solution, with the plan to eventually roll out the solution to the rest of the business and engaged The Network Collective to help them with this.

The Solution

A strategy development report, capturing details of the existing fixed voice estate, current issues, and drivers for change was created. TNC helped Stena Line navigate options including the benefits of Voice over IP and single-vendor versus multi-vendor solutions. At the end of this process Stena Line had a roadmap to a bespoke fixed voice solution.

TNC then began a managed procurement process for Stena Line’s preferred solution. This started with a Request for Information process, based on the responses to the RFI, TNC helped Stena Line choose three potential suppliers for a Request for Proposal. TNC ran a rigorous procurement process using our expert market knowledge.

Stena Line chose a preferred supplier engaging TNC to run the contract negotiation on their behalf, leading the contract negotiations, drafting the Master Services Agreement and the bespoke Statement of Work for Stena Line. Care was taken to ensure the solution was future-proofed and could scale, as the new fixed voice solution was rolled out across all of Stena Line’s locations.
